Terragon Terrain | Modular Magnetic Tile System

Created by Terragon Terrain

Terragon Terrain is a modular terrain system designed with ALL tabletop games in mind. Each tile aligns to the next using powerful rare earth magnets. Easy self alignment means each Terragon will always snap right into place, no positive, no negative, only the results you need when you want them. Want to learn more about Terragons? Check out our Kickstarter page or our website Terragons.com to learn more. Terragon Terrain was born from our games. We hope to make it a part of your next session too!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

TNT#6 Walls to the wall! And packaging.
about 3 years ago – Fri, Feb 26, 2021 at 04:54:25 PM

Terragons News Thursday

Here we are together again for some amazing news! While last weeks update was a bit on the light side this week is chock full of magnetic goodness!

To the Window, to the Wall

We have decided to take a step back with the walls and improve their function. We want these wall segments to be truly versatile and more of a building block staple for our system.

We needed to do some clever engineering to allow the wall sections to not only connect together, but in numerous directions on the board as well! We also wanted to ensure a rigid self supporting system that would allow the construction of actual walls.

I'm not gonna lie, I think we nailed it. Now we can sculpt the exterior of these walls with a neat brick pattern. But we expect to expand our wall system after Kickstarter fulfillment.

What's that? Your final stretch goal was a modular wall system, and now your saying these walls are part of that system?

Yes, yes we are. Initially the scatter walls where not meant to be as modular. But we where just too excited for this system not to replace those lame old walls with these!

A treasure Chest worthy to hold Terragons

We have not been shy about our thoughts on packaging. We have all received Kickstarter products in packages that are a little lacking swagger, and that's ok!

...

For them.

We wanted something more for our Terragons. Something that will make all your gamer friends to fight each other over the chance to play with you (definitely not just the tiles).

We believe this box fulfills all those needs. This prototype was ordered to test print quality, fit, and durability. An EVA foam insert (yes I said EVA foam) to cushion the tiles to make a secure fit like your tucking your precious Terragons in to bed.

This box is incredibly durable. Able to hold the weight of 250 Terragons with ease. So if you pledged for 250 tiles or more, your tiles will come in one or more of these bad boys.

We have our amazing designer coming up with a killer design for the box and the sleeves. So keep an eye out for those!

Quarantine part 6, Re-Quarantining

As we said our goal is to be 100% transparent with backers. This includes COVID related issues.

Both Corey and Bryson are quarantined until next Wednesday. We are awaiting test results but as of now both of us are showing no symptoms. We expect little to no impact due to production but will keep you informed.

That's all folks!

TNT #5, clogged printers and secrets
about 3 years ago – Fri, Feb 19, 2021 at 06:40:23 PM

Terragons News Thursday

Here we are with another update. There isnt a whole lot of breaking news level excitement going on this week. But sometimes thats a good thing.

3D Printing

Our 3D printed Scatter is coming along quite nicely. But we where experiencing some clogging issues over the last week.

After running tons of tests and wasting days of run time on 2-3 printers, we checked filament thickness. It was out of spec...badly. Basically the filament was bigger than it should have been causing clogs.

This is a huge dissapointment. We have been using the same brand and have purchased hundreds of rolls from them. As of yet weve recieved no word back or support. But hopefully that is just due to the times. Surely they wont just say "deal with it".

For now we are inspecting and setting aside bad rolls and moving on.

On the plus side we are working on improving the modular wall design and it is very promising so far. Will have more details on that soon.

Secrets

I promised secrets. But the thing about secrets is that once you know about them they arent really secrets.

Know we are working on some fun things. Some awesome dice related things. And a super awesome packaging related thing.

I look forward to your guesses in the comments below.

Make sure you keep an eye on our socials. And we will see you in the next TNT.

TNT #4, Stickers and Packaging Oh My!
about 3 years ago – Thu, Feb 11, 2021 at 10:16:21 PM

Terragons News Thursday

This week on the program we show off our newly printed stickers, discuss packaging options, and finalize samples of our custom filament for our 3d printers!

Who uses program in a sentence like that... I guess we do now?

Stickers

There is nothing quite like getting new stickers. That anticipation of just the right place to stick it. Getting to peel that backer off. The feeling when the sticker goes down nice and smooth.

Too much? Sorry.

We are very excited about these though. Our designer did a great job creating a nice set of stickers to commemorate some moments from the Kickstarter campaign. And the Kickstarter exclusive sticker for all eligible backers is a way to show all your friends that you did indeed "Like Terragons before they where cool."

Packaging

No doubt some of you have seen our previous sample packaging in reviews videos and such. We love the hex shaped sleeves for smaller quantity packs. But lets be honest we can do better for large quantities. Nobody wants to open 40 DIFFERENT PACKS of tiles every time they want to use them.

We have ordered samples and are getting proofs on EVEN MORE options. Everything from the packaging to the air/filler to protect the packaging to outer shipping box is being discussed and tested. Here is a sneak peak at our thinking process.

We want you to know that EVERY aspect of this Kickstarter has to meet our rigid expectations for our brand. We've had spirited hour long "discussions" on cardstock quality!

Custom Filament

Ordering custom filament has been a... unique experience to be honest. It's amazing to have the volume to even pursue the option. And after ordering pretty much every stock green and brown on the market we knew that this was the path we would have to travel.

Who knew pantone color swatches where like and actual thing. An expensive thing!

We spent hours picking out just two colors from our swatch books. Comparing the difference between coated and uncoated (because lets be real we are talking about plastic here so who knows how its going to compare to colors printed on paper).

After waiting a bit for them to send us samples our time and effort paid off. We found a nice vibrant green that didn't look like a Mountain Dew bottle, and a brown that didn't look like... ummm... melted chocolate?

Long story short, custom filament is ordered and we are awaiting the arrival of our precious.

Filament I mean filament.

That's all for this weeks TNT, see you in the next one!

TNT#3, LAZERZ
about 3 years ago – Thu, Feb 04, 2021 at 06:07:56 PM

Terragons News Thursday!

Lazerz!

This weeks update is going to be focusing primarily on our brand new laser! (Yes we do know how to spell laser).

The biggest update is that we may or may not have hooked the air filtration up correctly. The jury is still out on whether or not it was our fault, but we had to purchase some new ventilation equipment for... reasons...

Seriously however, for the safety of us, and our families we are putting a short hold on laser usage until this weekend when the new and much safer ventilation system is installed. But no need to worry. We are progressing well with the production side of that and accomplished a lot before the toxic fumes started...

Uh... before the ventilation system didn't seem to be working right. We should be back up and running 100% this Saturday as far as the laser is concerned!

For now, lets take a sneak peak at the acrylic status tiles on some tiles.

These generic tiles allow you to mark buffs, points of interest, piles of loot, you name it! We have kept the initial round intentionally generic to provide the most versatility and we LOVE them. The possibilities are pretty much endless.

ROCKS!?!?!?

We are nearly done printing ALL the normal scale rocks for fulfillment. With a quantity ordered over 2,500 its by far one of the biggest orders for our printer farm. So its great to have that behind us. It also served as a perfect test to get the new and old printers up to snuff for printing 24/7.

That's pretty much it for this weeks TNT, we will see you next time!

TNT #2, but on a Friday!
over 3 years ago – Sat, Jan 30, 2021 at 07:14:28 AM

Terragon News Thursday

Hey everybody it is Terragon News Thursday on a Friday!

We've got some quick topics to share with you all this week.

ROCKS!

These rocks rock! We are happy to share with you the finalized design for ALL of the rock's available as scatter terrain.

As you can see the normal and large scale rocks have 3 unique designs. With our epic scale being a true piece to behold! Oversee the battlefield or huddle beneath it in fear. Its up to you! Full production is swinging for our 3d printers and we are very excited with their progress!

Tile Colors

We have moved into the selection process for final colors and materials for the tiles. These preliminary color and material tests will be invaluable when the test mold comes in. This will allow us to hit the ground running. Updating the Backerkit and all media with the final tiles and really finalizing the production process.

Status Tiles

We are moving into final testing this weekend to begin our production process for these tiles. e do very thorough testing to ensure best quality. The words "good enough" don't cross our lips. It either meets our high standard or it doesn't.

The laser is also a relatively new technology for us. So we are taking the time to learn it and implement best procedures.

That is it for this weeks TNT. Keep an eye out on our social medias for more updates and we will see you next week!
